GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the Seeds: Soak guava seeds in warm water for approximately 24 hours before planting to help soften the seed coat and encourage germination.
2. Prepare the Soil: Fill trays or containers with a fertile, loose, well-draining seed-starting medium that retains moderate moisture.
3. Sow the Seeds: Plant seeds approximately 0.5–1 cm deep and lightly cover them with fine growing medium.
4. Provide Warmth: Maintain temperatures around 24–30°C (75–86°F) to encourage successful and consistent seed germination.
5. Maintain Moisture: Keep the growing medium evenly moist throughout germination without allowing it to become saturated or waterlogged.
6. Provide Bright Light: After seedlings emerge, provide bright light and gradually introduce stronger direct sunlight as plants become established.
7. Transplant Seedlings: Separate seedlings into individual containers after several true leaves develop and the root systems are strong enough for handling.
8. Choose a Sunny Site: Plant outdoors in a warm, full-sun location after frost danger has passed, or maintain plants in large containers in colder climates.
9. Maintain the Plants: Water consistently during establishment, provide balanced nutrition when needed, mulch around the root zone, and prune to develop the desired tree or shrub form.
10. Harvest Ripe Fruit: Harvest guavas when fruits develop mature color, soften slightly, and become aromatic; remember that fruit characteristics can vary among seed-grown plants.
