Mango Ginger Rhizomes for Planting – Curcuma amada Tropical Edible Vegetable

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Choose the planting time: Plant rhizomes in spring or early summer after frost danger has passed and the soil has warmed.
2. Prepare the soil: Use loose, fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost or well-aged organic matter.
3. Plant the rhizomes: Position healthy rhizome pieces approximately 2–3 inches deep with viable buds facing upward.
4. Space properly: Leave approximately 8–12 inches between plants to provide room for rhizome development.
5. Water consistently: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, particularly during active growth.
6. Provide suitable light: Grow in partial shade or bright filtered sunlight; protect plants from intense afternoon sun in very hot climates.
7. Maintain the plants: Mulch around plants to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and help maintain warm, stable soil conditions.
8. Harvest the rhizomes: Harvest approximately 7–10 months after planting, generally when the foliage begins to yellow and naturally die back.
