GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the Seeds: Clean the peach pits or seeds thoroughly and prepare them for cold, moist stratification before planting.
2. Cold Stratify: Place seeds in a slightly moist medium and refrigerate for approximately 8–12 weeks, keeping the medium lightly moist throughout the chilling period.
3. Prepare the Soil: Choose fertile, loose, well-draining soil in a location receiving at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight each day.
4. Sow the Seeds: After stratification, plant seeds approximately 2.5–5 cm deep in individual containers or a prepared outdoor garden bed.
5. Maintain Moisture: Keep the soil evenly moist during germination and early seedling growth without allowing it to become saturated or waterlogged.
6. Provide Sunlight: Place developing seedlings in bright light and gradually acclimate indoor-started plants to full outdoor sunlight.
7. Transplant Carefully: Move established seedlings to their permanent garden or orchard location while minimizing disturbance to the developing roots.
8. Space the Trees: Maintain approximately 4.5–6 m between trees to provide adequate room for mature canopy development and airflow.
9. Maintain the Tree: Water regularly during establishment and prune as the tree develops to encourage a healthy structure, good airflow, and manageable growth.
10. Harvest: Allow seed-grown trees several seasons to mature; harvest peaches when they develop mature color, characteristic aroma, and appropriate softness. Fruit characteristics can vary because seedlings may not grow true to the parent variety.
